How much does Control4 cost in Kansas City? (2026)

A complete Control4 system for a Kansas City home in 2026 runs $18,000 at the Essentials tier (3,000 sqft) to $525,000+ at Concierge tier (10,000 sqft). The three things that drive the price: home size (square footage and number of zones), quality tier (Essentials, Premium, or Concierge — see ranges below), and whether the install is new construction or a retrofit into an existing home. IntegrateIT is a Platinum-tier Control4 Dealer based in Overland Park; we've installed 217+ systems across the KC metro since 2021, and the ranges below come straight from our actual project history — not from a national catalog.

Below: the actual cost ranges by tier and home size, what each tier includes, the variables that move you within a range, and answers to the six questions every Kansas City buyer asks before signing a contract.

What each tier actually includes

Essentials

8-zone lighting control + 4-zone audio + 2 keypads + remote app. Solid mainstream gear, professionally installed, clean finish.

Premium

Full whole-home automation: 16-32 lighting zones + multi-room audio + climate + shades + security integration. High-end equipment, custom carpentry, fully concealed wiring.

Concierge

No-compromise: best-in-class everything (Crestron-grade panels, Lutron HomeWorks, Sonance Invisible audio, custom millwork). White-glove design + 5-year warranty + lifetime priority support.

What moves the number within a range

  • New construction vs retrofit. New-construction wiring is roughly 30% cheaper than retrofitting into an existing home — we're running cable before drywall, not pulling it through finished walls.
  • Equipment grade. The same room can use $4,000 of in-wall speakers (Sonance, NAD) or $30,000 of architectural-grade speakers (Wisdom Audio LS3). Same functional output; different acoustic ceiling.
  • Concealment level. Concierge installs hide every piece of gear behind millwork, in-wall, or in a dedicated equipment room. That custom carpentry alone can run $15,000-$50,000 on a single project.
  • Network architecture. Control4 runs on top of your home network. A consumer-grade router won't hold up; enterprise Wi-Fi 6E (Ubiquiti UDM-Pro stack) adds $4,500-$32,000 depending on access-point count and structured cabling needs.
  • Integration breadth. Add Lutron HomeWorks lighting, motorized shades, HVAC integration, security panel integration — each layer is ~$5,000-$25,000.

Questions every Kansas City buyer asks

How much does a basic Control4 system cost for a 3,000 sqft Kansas City home?

For a 3,000 sqft home, a basic Control4 Essentials-tier system in Kansas City runs $18,000-$32,000. That includes 8-zone lighting control, 4-zone audio, two keypads, and the Control4 app. The range varies based on whether existing wiring can be reused, finishes (drywall vs plaster), and equipment selection.

What is the cost difference between Control4 Essentials, Premium, and Concierge tiers?

Tier multipliers are roughly 1.0x for Essentials, 1.65x for Premium, and 2.8x for Concierge. The same 5,000 sqft home that runs $25,000-$48,000 at Essentials tier runs $75,000-$145,000 at Premium and $145,000-$285,000 at Concierge. Tier choice depends on equipment grade, level of concealment, custom carpentry, and design + commissioning hours.

Does Control4 cost more in Kansas City than other metros?

Slightly less, in fact. Kansas City labor rates are lower than the coastal AV markets (Bay Area, NYC, LA, Miami), so the same Control4 system runs ~10-20% less here than in those metros. Equipment cost is identical; labor is the variable.

How long does a Control4 install take in Kansas City?

For a typical 5,000 sqft Premium-tier project, design takes 1-2 weeks, build runs 4-6 weeks (longer if synced to ongoing construction), and commissioning + training take 1 week. Total: 6-9 weeks from contract signing to walk-through. Concierge-tier and retrofits into older homes can run 3-5 months.

Is Control4 worth the cost for a Kansas City home?

For homes valued above $1M where the owners plan to stay 10+ years, yes — Control4 systems built to the Premium tier or above have demonstrated functional lifespans of 15-20 years. For shorter-stay homes or under-$750K homes, simpler stack alternatives like Lutron Caseta + Sonos can deliver 70% of the experience for 30% of the cost.
