Sonance Invisible Series · Kansas City.

IntegrateIT is an authorized Sonance dealer installing the Invisible Series (IS2, IS4, IS8) across the Kansas City metro — speakers that mount behind drywall and disappear entirely. 30+ IS-series projects since 2021, mostly architect-led builds in Mission Hills, Leawood, Prairie Village, and Loch Lloyd. We coordinate directly with your interior designer + architect + builder so the speakers integrate cleanly into the wall finish. Phone: (913) 804-7575.

Why architects and designers specify Sonance Invisible

  • Zero visual footprint. Once skim-coated and painted, the IS speaker is invisible. No grille, no bezel. Ceilings, walls, and millwork stay as the architect drew them.
  • Acoustically transparent finish. Sonance ships with a proprietary skim-coat compound that lets sound pass through without colorization. Painted to match the wall in any finish (flat, eggshell, satin).
  • Coordinated rough-in. We meet with the framing crew + drywaller + painter to sequence the install. The back-cans land during framing, speakers go in after rocker + tape, skim coat happens before primer.
  • Multi-brand ecosystem fit. The IS speakers integrate with Control4, Crestron, Sonos, or a standalone amp + Lutron HomeWorks lighting scene controller. Whatever the control plane, IS works.

Common questions

What is the Sonance Invisible Series?

Sonance Invisible Series (IS2, IS4, IS8) is a speaker line designed to mount inside the wall cavity behind drywall — once skim-coated and painted, the speaker is acoustically transparent but visually invisible. No grille, no bezel, no visible hardware. The IS2 sits behind 1/4"-1/2" of skim-coat compound; the larger IS4 and IS8 require a thicker compound layer. Used in spaces where the design intent is "no visible electronics" — gallery-style great rooms, primary suites, theaters with millwork ceilings.

How much does a Sonance Invisible install cost in Kansas City?

Per-zone cost runs $2,400-$4,800 installed for a single IS2 pair with amplification + skim-coat finishing. A typical 4-zone whole-home install (great room, primary suite, dining, outdoor patio mix) lands at $18,000-$42,000. Theater-grade IS8 installs with 7.4.4 Atmos configuration run $35,000-$95,000. The cost difference vs visible speakers is mostly labor — the drywall finish coordination is precise work.

Why pick invisible speakers over in-ceiling or in-wall with grilles?

Three reasons. (1) Design intent — interior designers + architects working on $3M+ homes increasingly specify "no visible electronics" as a non-negotiable, and IS speakers solve it. (2) Acoustic — IS speakers vent through the wall cavity itself, which can sound surprisingly good (no front-baffle resonance). (3) Resale — premium homes with invisible audio show better in listing photos.

Do you coordinate with my interior designer or architect on Sonance Invisible installs?

Yes — this is one of the projects that genuinely requires the design team in the room. The IS speaker locations need to align with the wall framing, the electrical rough-in needs to leave space for the back-can, and the drywall sequence matters (rock → tape → speakers in → skim coat → primer). We do design-development meetings with the architect + interior designer + builder so the IS speakers integrate cleanly. We also handle Lutron Caseta or HomeWorks lighting design alongside, which is usually being specified at the same time.

Can you install Sonance Invisible in an existing home, or only new construction?

Both, but the workflow differs. New construction is ideal — we run the wiring + place the back-cans during the framing phase, the rocker finishes around them. Retrofit installs require cutting + patching drywall around each speaker location; the patch lands flush with the IS skim-coat finish so the cosmetic outcome is identical to new construction. Retrofit adds ~$300-500/speaker in patching labor but the end result is the same.
